Here's What You Missed This Week 6/2/13 - 6/8/13

Welcome to my inaugural weekly wrap-up. I meant to keep better track of things I liked around the internet this week. I failed. I do have a couple of things for you, and I promise to do better next week- unless nobody else writes anything interesting.

What I wrote

I wrote about how my Grampa made me a dollhouse with a secret message hidden inside, and how it inspired me to make crafts out of saliva while sitting in a jail cell. More touching than you'd think. My Grandfather's Legacy

For Theme Thursday, I asked people to invent things. I invented a weapon of mass intelligence, and a steampunk human organ. You Know What Would Be Awesome?

Because I'm such a know-it-all, I told you how to blog. Some people seemed to like it; perhaps you will, too. The Definitive Compendium of Blogging Advice (Volume One)

What I shared

I discovered that Taylor Swift holds her pen funny. I shared a pic and we all had fun with that.

At the grocery store, I saw some children's books that really pissed me off.

I learned about a lovely family in Michigan that saved an orphaned newborn deer and raised her in their home. Now, five years later, the state is threatening to take Lilly away from the only family she'd ever known and release her into the wild, where she'd surely die. They won't even let her go to a petting zoo because she was techinically born in the wild. There is a petition you can sign if you're in favor of Lilly staying with her family.

Then there's this:
That just happened.

What I read

Don't Call Me Marge wrote about the trials and tribulations of being a writer. If you're a writer, you'll love it. It's funny because it's true.

You know all that fancy crap you registered for when you got married? Let Me Start By Saying gives it hilarious new life.

Leslie Marinelli wrote a post about housepaint colors on In the Powder Room that will have you rolling on the floor. Just don't read it if your kids are around.

Tweets I enjoyed

And that's all I've got. Enjoy your weekend!
