Here's What You Missed This Week 7/14/13 - 7/20/13

I had a pretty exciting week on Twitter. Remember how last week, I was all psyched that Amanda Bynes favorited my tweet? Well this week, I had three, count 'em, three brushes with celebrity!

First, David Wade followed me and invited me to DM him! Eek! What, you don't know who David Wade is? He's a news anchor from Boston. He's kind of dreamy. I have been wanting to ask him about his skin care regimen for at least a decade. Keep your mind out of the gutter, though, it wasn't like that. I tweeted him that I had a scoop for him. I don't think he's actually going to report on the story, but he still hasn't unfollowed me, so that's happy ending, right?

Later in the week, Horace from The Specials tweeted a pic of me! Fine, it was actually the lady who manages his account. But still, it's his official account, so that's something. She followed me and read my blog post about meeting them and everything. She confirmed that Marcos really is a sweetheart.

Finally, I had a conversation with a supervillain! Okay, really, it was a guy I knew about 15 years ago and just rediscovered on Twitter. But he played a certain supervillain in a recent blockbuster movie. And I may or may not brag to my four-year-old son that I know him at least once a week.

Okay, on to the wrap up.

What I Wrote

Are you a blogger? Or a writer of some sort? Then you know exactly what I'm talking about when I say that I dread telling strangers that I write. I want everyone on Earth to read this before I go to another party. How to talk to a writer

Remember a few paragraphs ago, when I mentioned Horace and Marcos? Did you have any idea what I was talking about? If you didn't, then you must have missed the post about the Specials show that I went to on my birthday. Two words: TOUR BUS. And You Thought Sneaking Backstage Was Impressive

On Wednesday, I decided to do you a favor. Yes, you! I'm running a giveaway for the most delicious beverage I have ever had. No hyperbole. It's wine slushies! And you can still enter! Go now! I Like My Wine in Slushie Form

Theme Thursday this week was about products we love. I guess most people aren't interested in free advertising, because we didn't have a whole lot of entries. But fear not, the Theme Thursday link up is always open until midnight the following Wednesday. Do you have some recommendations you'd care to share? I Could Never Be a Buddhist

What I Read

Have you heard of The Lawyer Chicks yet? Jess from Don't Mind the Mess and Charlene from Charlene Chronicles have teamed up to create a new blog that's dedicated to blogging advice from a legal perspective. Check out their post on the ins and outs of copyrighted pictures.

Lori from The Next Step has come up with a new series called "Really Old, Inconsequential, and Out of Date Movie Reviews." It's even funnier than it sounds. Her first review is "Magic Mike." You must read it.

Vikki from Laugh Line made me cry a little. And not tears of laughter, like she usually does. This post is required reading for all mothers. Just go. And send Vikki the bill for your Kleenex.

Synnøve from Don't Chew on the Dinner Table reports on the latest crazy whack-a-doo parenting fad. I am 100% sure that if I ever ran into one of these parents, I would start screaming at them. Even if we were at a dinner party.

Ever driven cross-country? Starr from The Insomniac's Dream is in the thick of it right now, and she's bringing us along for the journey. She had a bit of a rough start.

Tweets I Enjoyed

And speaking of Sarah, aka @sadderbutwiser, did you read her post yesterday about how she's not going to BlogHer '13? Well, neither am I. If you're staying home, join us next Friday night for a Twitter party! Details here. See you then!
