I'm sure you've been dying to hear my opinion all week, so here it is: those parents are inconsiderate dicks. Yes, they are. That is clearly not a child-appropriate venue. Restaurants should not have to make rules about the ages of their patrons; parents should know better!
Now, I'm not saying that you can't bring babies or children to any restaurant, ever. Far from it. We'll be taking my son out to breakfast, lunch, and dinner for his fifth birthday in a couple weeks, a custom we've observed since he turned two. However, we will not be dining at Alinea.
Unfortunately, not all parents are as brilliant as my husband and I are. Some people need a little help. So I made this for them:
